First Bad Review

The internet has changed everything. Never really thought of it personally until Trace started working. He's been getting awesome patient reviews in dental school, at Queens Hospital during his residency, and now out in practice.... until this one!

I was shocked! ONE star! "Creep!" "Chuckling under his breath!" "Forced smile!"

Trace took it well but I had my dukes up the moment I read it. Funny how this patient first posted it anonymously and doesn't mention anything about his actual dental work. No comments on making appointment, wait time, cleanliness, pain, etc. Just that the dentist smiled and chuckled. I was ready to give a good reply back but alas that's not good business.

Trace is a happy fellow, always smiling, laughing and willing to help out. That said, the office staff really get along with him. The next day Trace went to work without a smile. Very sullen, no laughing or smiling allowed. Someone asks the boss what is wrong with Trace, the boss responds, "Well I guess EVERYONE has a bad day." At the end of the morning huddle just as they are about to go start the day, Trace stops them and announces he has the morning joke. He then reads this review and spills the beans that he has been pretending to be serious all morning (a total of 20 minutes). Everyone laughs and expresses their shock at this review. Trace recounts how difficult it was to be serious and how it pained him not to respond more positively. (Our funny Trace)

Makes me think though about the reviews we so haphazardly give on paper and the internet. It could be someone like my Trace. I will be more careful before I ever give a bad review again. And I'll be sure to keep my comments to the function of the business and away from attacking personal attributes.

Glad to have the first bad review behind us though. Sure to have many more. Look, I didn't post about the baby! Woot, woot!
