On one of our last north shore excursions I found both of these fruits growing wild so I brought them home with me. The yellow ball is lilikoi (passionfruit). The center is scooped out and eaten raw or used to make desserts or syrups while the outside is discarded. The star shaped slices are star fruit. Before I sliced it I figured it would be hollow based on how light it is. The whole fruit is edible, outside is waxy and the inside is crisp and juicy. Tastes like a cross between a watered down apple, pear, and grape.

So do you not eat the outer part of the passion fruit? You are going to be very disappointed in our mainland produce sections when/if you get back.
