Here today, gone to Maui

I had to, it's just too easy.

Spring and summer of 2012 Trace was searching for jobs in Hawaii, California, and Oregon and sending out his application. Trace hadn't sent out any applications or looked for any job openings since September because he's been so busy with work here in Honolulu. Currently he works M-S (4 days at one office and 2 at another) anywhere from 9-10 hours a day. I work every Saturday night shift from 7pm-7:30am. We talked about moving but we get real hung up between Hawaii and mainland and simply haven't had time to really research other options. We had finally settled that we were going to just stay here for a bit when an office in Maui contacted him about an opening.

Maui has always been an enticing option as it has everything we like about Hawaii and less of what we don't like about Honolulu. For instance, Maui is almost twice the size of Oahu but has 150,000 people versus 1+ million here on Oahu. Well we effectively turned down the offer but their response was, "It’s pretty rare that we have an opening in our Maui office and we do have other Dentists interested in Maui, BUT we enjoyed meeting you as well and feel you would be a good fit with our staff and patients."

So this got us to start reconsidering the offer and we were just about to accept when Trace got another email with an offer to work on Maui! The second offer was more enticing than the first and so we are moving the beginning of July. Trace was able to transition out of his current positions without too much hassle and I just gave my notice at work too. We are still working out the logistics of where we will be living, shipping, etc. but Trace will be working 4.5 days/week in Kahului starting early July.

This doesn't mean we will live in Hawaii forever but we had narrowed it down to Maui or mainland. So if we end up not liking Maui I guess we will be moving again.

Right before the job offers I did buy a Sam's Club membership off of living social but there isn't a Sam's club on Maui. So if anyone wants it let me know. It is essentially a year membership for $5.
