Christmas in Honolulu

80 degree weather, no chance of snow, yet the people here really know how to decorate and celebrate for the holidays. The first Saturday of December is the tree lighting ceremony with a parade. Then frequently throughout the month there are cookie and milk nights, hot chocolate nights, more parades, holiday movie nights, and free pictures with Santa. They devote an entire government building to housing decorated trees and wreaths. The mall has dancing Christmas trees to holiday music and foam snowflakes throughout the day. It's no white Christmas but they put up a good act.

No snow in my forecast
Honolulu Hale devoted to Christmas trees and wreaths
One of dozens of decorated trees
Trace with giant Santa and Mrs. Claus
He may be still be St. Nick but he does things island style over here, notice the shaka and open shirt
This year's city tree
One of the many giant displays surrounding the government buildings
It's snowing bubbles at the mall!

Enjoy your sunshine.

We finally have a white Christmas and it is still really cold! I guess we take for granted the snow and forget to add the other decorations...you truly know how to celebrate the season! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! Thanks for the awesome pics! I had never thought about whether or not you have lights and trees, but now I KNOW! :)
