I had a 10-year-old as a patient the other day to fix a chipped tooth. Understandably he was nervous to visit the dentist, but even more painful to him was his chipped front tooth. Sheepishly he told me the kids at school tease him and tell him he looks like a character off of the movie "Dumb and Dumber" I had to hold back my laughter because it was true he looked very similar to Jim Carey.

He told me he didn't care for dentists and he really didn't like shots. I told him not to worry and I would take good care of him. Contrary to popular belief, one of my number one goals when treating patients is to make sure they are not in pain. I gave him the shot following which he said, "You already gave it? I'm never going back to my other dentist he hurts me a ton." I laughed, reassuring him the procedure would go well. I fixed his tooth and gave him the mirror to look at his tooth, his jaw dropped and all he said was "You ARE a professional!" There you have it folks, finally after 21 years of school and the approval of a 10-year-old I have earned the status of Professional!

Trace, I love this post! What a fun patient. And the Jim Carrey picture made me giggle. Thanks for sharing! And great job on the tooth. :)
YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL!! Great job. I'm glad you could do the before and after.
And Calista really needs you as her dentist. So you have to come to Pendleton to set up your practice. Did Jason talk to you?
